Larry Max Pounds

Larry Max Pounds, age 72, of Smithville, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022.

He was born on December 18, 1949, in Rosboro, the son of Jasper Audry Jackson Pounds and Vela Francis Ledbetter Pounds.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  On October 27, 1967, he was married to the love of his life, Sherron Pate.

Larry was always a very kindhearted man, who dedicated his life to serving others.  In 1981, after many talks with the Lord and much prayer, Larry answered the call into the ministry and became a Free Will Baptist pastor.  Throughout his career, he was blessed to have pastored many churches and to help lead many lost souls to find their salvation.  Anyone who really knew Larry knew that the main focal point of his life was serving God and taking care of his family.  He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who took great joy in spending time with all of his family.  He also enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping.  Larry will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known and loved him.

He is survived by his loving soulmate, his wife, Sherron Pounds of Smithville; his two sons, Randy Pounds of Mena and Scott Pounds and his wife, Jamie, of Calamine; his grandchildren, Lane Pounds, Clayton Pounds and his wife, Allie, Brandon Pounds, Kristen Pounds and her fiancé, Marcel Kalaja, and Elizabeth Davidson and her husband, Luke; his great-grandchildren, Rhett, Scarlett and Vivienne Pounds; his siblings and their spouses, Carolyn and Richard Lock, Patsy and Paul Alexander, Harlon Pounds, Doyle Pounds, Jerry and Carla Pounds, and Paula and Billy Barrett; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Bruce Bland and Bro. Brian Pounds officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Coker Cemetery in Rosboro.

Pallbearers will be Lane Pounds, Clayton Pounds, Brandon Pounds, Jay Pounds, Luke Davidson and Marcel Kalaja.
