Larry Odom

Larry Arnold Odom, farmer and owner of Holland Bottom Farm, passed away November 3, 2015 with his family by his bedside. He was born August 1, 1944 to the late Guthrie and Marstella Edwards Odom. He left behind his wife and partner in life, Sandy Smith Young Odom; sons Tim (Leslie), David (Lori), Bryan Young and Ken Young; grandchildren, Bridget, Haley, Sidney, Aimee and Tyler.

Larry was preceded in death by grandparents, Clarence and Emma Odom, and Rob and Zora Edwards.

Larry's siblings are Beckie (Harold) Brooks, Randal (Beth) Odom, Joy Siegel, and Jack (Jeannie) Odom.

He also left behind his extended family, Jeremy (Pam) Picard, Anthony (Kim) Picard, Chris (Amanda) Picard, Ricky Penor, Theresa and Lenny Livingston, Paige O'Neal, Mindy Graham, Meagan and Brooke Wallace, Sarah Roers and Jason Williams. And we must include all employees who worked day after day at Holland Bottom Farm, Keren Crawley, Bud Meharg, Roy Bulice, Sidney Odom, Meagan Wallace, Stephanie Odom and the men from Mexico who come year after year to work on the farm. Larry had special nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. He was an inspiration and mentor to all.

Larry will be remembered by rising from poverty to a successful farmer and businessman. His work ethic was unbelievable, usually working seven days a week and most hours of the day. Larry never met a stranger. In fact, he loved meeting people. He could out talk anyone, and talking is what he loved to do, but he also was a good listener.

Larry served God, family and community. His generosity was beyond belief, his family came second with unlimited generosity, and his involvement in his community was truly outstanding, having served on the Lonoke County Quorum Court for twenty-five years. His voice will be truly missed.

Larry was educated in the Cabot schools and earned his degree in Math from UCA. He also attended Missouri School of Math for his engineering program. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard.

Larry spoke often in his final days that he has been truly blessed and had lived the American dream. The greatest tribute to Larry would be "Be ye kind one to another".

The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice Care, neighbors and special friends for their care, food, and concern in Larry's short battle with cancer.
