Larry David Kivell, born June 16, 1951 in Enid, OK to Agnes Allene Cook Kivell and William Francis Kivell and raised in Shreveport, LA passed away on May 4, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock surrounded by family.
Larry graduated from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport in 1970 and joined the Air Force immediately after graduating. He served our country for 6 years before being Honorably Discharged in May 1976. He graduated from LSU in Shreveport and then went to work at Commercial National Bank where he met the love of his life, Vickie Kivell. They were married in Shreveport on July 5, 1979. After a short stint at Louisiana Bank and Trust he went to work for Systematics (Later Alltel Information Services and then Fidelity Information Services). Work would eventually relocate him and the family to Davenport, IA and finally Little Rock, AR. He retired from Fidelity in 2018.
Larry loved nothing more than spending time with his sons and Daughter in Law. His favorite place to visit was always Las Vegas and he enjoyed calling himself a Las Vegas expert (which he absolutely was). He was an avid member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus #10167 at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife Vickie Kivell and his parents, Bill and Allene Kivell and survived by his two sons William David Kivell and wife, Jessica Kivell, and Kelly Kivell all of Little Rock. He is also survived by his wonderful sister Karen Johnston, and husband Bob, of Shreveport, LA, best friend and “Brother” Joe Ziobrowski and wife Angela of Thompsons Station, TN. He is also survived by his Bother in Laws Mark Harrison and wife Pat of Shreveport, LA and Pat Harrison and Wife Susie of Bradenton, FL, Sisters in Law Valerie Woolbert and husband Mike of Shreveport, LA and Patti Adams of Mandeville, LA as well as many Nieces and Nephews he loved dearly.
Larry was the kindest man we ever knew and will be missed more than words can explain. He was the absolute best father anyone could ever hope for. It isn’t lost on the family that Larry wanted to get to Vickie the week before her birthday, just so they could celebrate together. The family would like to give a special “Thank you” to the ICU Nurses and Doctors at St. Vincent Hospital for their superb care for Larry and the family.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Monday 5/8 at Smith Family Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd). The graveside service will be 11:00 am Wednesday 5/10 at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, LA.
