Larry Lofton Harwell, born on October 20, 1947, in Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Larry dedicated his career to the construction industry as the owner of Larry Harwell Construction, where his expertise and commitment to quality were widely recognized. After retiring from construction, he spent many years in the automotive business, where he met many lifelong friends.
He was a proud graduate of North Little Rock High School, Class of 1967. Following his education, Larry served honorably in the Arkansas Army National Guard for seven years. His time in service instilled in him a sense of discipline and dedication that he carried throughout his life. He was a longtime member of Grace Church of the Nazarene in North Little Rock.
Known for his kind and welcoming nature, Larry had an innate ability to make others feel at ease. He loved to play jokes on his family and friends, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him with his great sense of humor. His hobbies, which included deer hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley, were a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors.
Larry took immense pride in his family, particularly his children, Jason (Jeanette) and Jennifer, and his granddaughter, Jessi Watson (Jerimiah). They were his proudest accomplishments and brought him great joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Judy Coleman Harwell, and his cherished children and granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lofton and Lou Etta Harwell, and his sister, Joann Johnson.
A visitation to celebrate Larry's life will be held on November 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street).
Larry Lofton Harwell will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and love will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts.
