Larry Noel Garr, age 91, of North Little Rock, passed away on November 16, 2022.
Larry was born and raised in Camden, Arkansas by the late Charles W and Mary C Garr. He attended Arkansas Teachers College and Louisiana Tech University. Larry served in the Army and reserves from 1953-1961 and was a Korean War veteran. He worked in field artillery and sharp shooter instruction while stationed at Fort Chaffe in Fort Smith Arkansas, where he met his wife, Helen. They were married August 11, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Little Rock and made their home in Fort Smith.
Larry was employed by General Motors Acceptance Corporation, starting with repossessions then as a credit manager and retired after 36 years.
During his younger years, Larry played the drums in his high school band and taught himself how to play the harmonica. He, along with his parents and sister were known as the "Dancing Garrs" because of how much and how well they danced.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, knife and gun collector who loved telling stories of his past, in detail. He helped construct a lakehouse for his family in Hot Springs on Lake Hamilton. Many wonderful memories of fishing, waterskiing, and boating were made there over the course of 33 years.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Gwen Barron of North Little Rock.
Larry is survived by his wife Helen, son Tony Garr (Renee) of Russell, Arkansas, daughter Mitzi Cox (Brian) of Keller Texas, grandchildren Lezlie Garr, Alex Garr (Emily), Rachel Kocmoud (Jonathan), Claire, Nicholas, William, Therese, & David Cox, great-grand daughters Ruth and Anne Marie Kocmoud and a niece, Mary Ann Barron of Sherwood, and nephews Dr. William Garr Barron and Jimmy Barron and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
