Larry Edward Freet Sr.

Larry Edward Freet, Sr., passed away November 24, 2023, at home with his beloved daughter, Susan, and his granddaughter, Lori, by his side.
Born on March 20, 1943, in Hot Springs, to James I. Freet and Jewel Heffley Freet. Larry is predeceased by his beloved wife, Josie Guest Freet. He and Josie lived a life of love and adventure for almost 60 years. Also predeceased are his parents, one sister, Shirley Ann Freet, five brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Delma) Freet, LN (Yoko) Freet, Joe (Myra) Freet and Louise Freet. He will also be joining his two sons, Eddie Echols and Larry Freet, II.
Larry led a life filled with love for his wife and family. He never met a stranger and was happy to share his many stories with anyone. He was not only a great father but an equally amazing grandfather who dedicated his entire life to his family. He was an avid gun collector, who enjoyed guns as well as gun shows and deer hunting. He and his wife were the former owners of Lewis BBQ and Freet Roofing. Larry will be greatly missed by all. Larry led a life full of love for his wife, family and host of friends.
Cherishing his lifetime of memories are his two surviving children, Susan Brumley and Tim Echols. As well as two brothers and sister-in-law, Bill Freet of St. Louis, Missouri and Gary and Sharon Freet of Jacksonville. He is survived by his grandchildren, Lori and Kolby Nathaniel, Jesse and Laken Martin, Meghan and Stacey Childs, Larry and Bridget Freet, James Freet, Paige Putt, Triston Freet and Grady Miller. Larry was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, Justin, Erika, Mason, Whitley, Rylee, Blakelee, Isaiah, Jace, Isabella, Cessily and Ryder. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Martin, Larry Freet III, Doug Freet, Jimmy Freet, Justin Hall, BJ Cramer, Blaine Martin, and Triston Freet.
Honorary pallbearers are Teddy Broughton, Nina Broughton, Jeri and Pepper Smith, Larry and Debbie Tucker, Bobbie and the late Gerald Wheeler, Trish Veazey, Kolby Nathaniel The George family, Dierkson Hospice and the Neighbors Hunting Club.
The family would like to Express a special thank you to his special nurses who gave him such amazing care, love, and dignity until the very end, Gina, Shadonna, Gwenna, Marcia and Kiley.
Visitation will be at Smith Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, beginning at 5:00 pm and concluding at 7:00 pm.  Service will be held on Wednesday, November, 29 2023, 10:00am officiated by Chaplain Rich Heffington at the same location followed by a graveside service to be held at Crestview Cemetery.
