Larry Dean Shanks

Larry Dean Shanks, age 78, of Hot Springs, AR, went to be with the Lord on the evening of July 27, 2023.

Larry was born May 29, 1945, in Long Beach California to Orval and Opal Jean Shanks and grew up there along with his sister, Linda Saenz. He was a graduate of Half Moon Bay Union High School. After graduating from San Mateo College, Larry had a career in banking and was Vice President at Great American Bank in Sacramento. He was proceeded in death by his parents.

Always witty and jovial, Larry had a big toothy grin and could captivate a room with his humor and tales of adventure. He enjoyed helping friends and was first in line to volunteer. An avid duffer, Larry

was a regular on the golf course with his buddies. Larry lived for family and was a wonderful husband, stepfather and grandfather.

Larry is survived by his wife Betty Shanks, his stepchildren and their families: Johnny and Carolyn Partridge of Hot Springs, their children, Julia Gallagher, Chayce Partridge, Jack Plummer, Thomas and Calie Plummer and their children Owen and Elliot, Lisa and Charlie Stewart of Bentonville, their children Marlee Stewart, Lisa Rae and Jay Spinks of Arkadelphia and their children Herrin Spinks, Uriah Spinks and Jagger Spinks, his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ray Saenz of

Sacramento, CA and their children Sherry, Jesse and Danny, and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.  Visitation at 10:00AM-11:00AM, prior to the service.

Interment in the Caney Valley Cemetery, Kirby.

Pallbearers are Johnny Partridge, Julia Gallagher, Jim Keary, Sam Curry, Tommy Caesar and Jack Plummer.
