Larry James "Rooster" Cogburn

Larry James "Rooster" Cogburn, age 67, of Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at a Hot Springs hospital.

He was born in a small 3 room house, on the Rock Creek Cut-Off Road, outside of Glenwood. The first son of Woodroe James Cogburn and Alpha Pauline "Bobbie" Duggan Cogburn.

Larry worked hard his whole life, at many different jobs, the last being a long distance truck driver. He was the best provider for his family, that he loved.

In his younger days he loved to race at the Oak Grove Dirt Track or ride around on his motorcycle.

He was so generous that he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and was honest to a fault.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason Matthew Rhodes; his sister, Carol Pounds; and his nephew, Matthew Turner.

He is survived by his two daughters, Amy (Timothy) Cooper of Camden, South Carolina and Lorra Brit of Hot Springs; their mother, Debbie Collum of Hot Springs; his six grandchildren, Kayla Hilton, Chris Sutton, Katie Crocker, Kevin Crocker, Baylee Benefield, and Jasey Collum; his two brothers, Billy (Teresa) Cogburn of Kirby and Buddy Cogburn of Newhope; his sister, Reva (Dean) Turner of Newhope; his brother-in-law, Doyle Pounds of Kirby; and many more friends and relatives. He will be missed.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Fancy Hill Cemetery with Bro. Brian Pounds officiating.

The family would like to invite all who are attending to meet at Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood at 1:30 PM prior to services on Thursday to go in processional.
