Lanier Luttrell passed away on December 22, 2015, at the age of 88. He was a longtime Glenwood, Arkansas resident for nearly 30 years, but had been living in Hot Springs, Arkansas for the past few years. He was born to James William Luttrell and Doshia Lanier Luttrell on July 21, 1927. On April 29, 1950, he married the love of his life, Ruby Owens Luttrell. The two were happily married until she preceded him in death on March 8, 2009. Lanier was a proud United States Navy veteran and served during World War II. He retired from the United States Postal Service after over 25 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church and a life-long Believer in Christ. He loved being with his family and working around his home and garden. Lanier is survived by his son and daughter-in-law (AKA "adopted daughter"), Jim and Patti Luttrell of Longview, Texas.; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Clay and Rachel Luttrell of Tyler, Texas.; his new great-granddaughter, Aspen Brooke Luttrell; and his second wife and caregiver, Bettie Luttrell of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be held at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 12:30PM 2:00PM. Services will follow immediately after in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment services will follow immediately with military honors at Nelson Cemetery, just outside of Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Everett Smith, Elwood Massey, Joe Wright, Larry Mitchell and Tony Waites.
