Lamanda Blackwood was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on April 16, 2023 at age 82 and leaves behind three children (Dianna Jones, Jim Blackwood, Danielle Sandage), six grandchildren (David Hamilton, Cameron Jones, Erin Jones, Kate Sandage, Camille Sandage, Oliver Blackwood) and two great grandchildren (Tristan Jones, Kellan Jones).
She was born to Hal and Ethel Lewis on December 11, 1940 in Searcy, AR. After graduating from high school, Lamanda attended Arkansas State University where she studied history and met her husband, Jerry Blackwood. They married in 1959 and soon after set off to see the world when Jerry was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. Lamanda enjoyed family life in Germany, France, and across the US. Of all the places they lived, San Francisco was nearest and dearest to our mother's heart.
Lamanda loved spending time with her family, playing board games, cooking delicious meals for her family, and cheering on her favorite teams. In her later years, she became a successful league manager in our family's fantasy football team and took home the league trophy twice. She was loyal, resilient, and quietly adventurous. Amidst many challenges and losses in life, she found ways to press on. We honor her example of exploring, rebounding from setbacks, and showing up for those she loved
A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 19 from 6-8pm at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home in Conway, AR. A private Christian burial will be held at the Little Rock National Cemetery on April 20.
