L. A. Simpson, age 91, of Arkadelphia, died Sunday, January 8, 2012. He was born May 23, 1920 in Big Fork, Arkansas, the son of the late Dr. Lora A. and Minerva Lewis Simpson. He served as a Army Air Corps Sgt. during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a retired service manager for Shepherd's Auto Sales in Arkadelphia and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred O'Neal Simpson and one sister, Hazel Simpson.
Survivors are his wife, Lou Simpson; three children, Martha Cobb of Sherwood, Arkansas, Greg Freeman of Houston, Texas and Sonya Bridges of Bella Vista, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday, January 10th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Private graveside services with military honors will be Wednesday, January 11th at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
