L. Neal
L.D. Neal, SMSGT, USAF (Retired), age 88, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 5, 2009. Born on March 23, 1921 in El Paso, Arkansas, he was the only child of Dixie and Lois Neal.
He was a retired US Air Force veteran after serving 28 years. L.D. was a tail gunner in the B-52 and B-36 programs, flying 44 combat missions in World War II. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Neal worked 16 years for the United States Post Office as a mail handler and retired again in 1986. His three great loves were the Lord, his country and his family.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret Rollins Neal, whom he married March 8, 1952 at England, Arkansas; three sons, Steve (Debbie), David and Roger (Linda); and a daughter, Kelly (Michael). He also had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of Markham Street Baptist Church.
Services will be held Monday, December 7, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, AR 72205 (NW corner of I-630 and Barrow Rd.), with Pastor Ken Jerome officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Jeff Neal, Kenny Neal, Kevin Neal, Hamilton Bitely, Michael Fausett and Tommy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett Hogan and Robert Fausett. Memorials may be made to Markham Street Baptist Church, 9701 Markham Street, Little Rock, AR 72205, or Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.
