Kenneth H. Rahn, 87, of Little Rock, died Monday, April 21, 2008. He was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Kutztown, Pa. He is survived by his son, Bill Rahn and wife, Ann Scoggins and their children, Hannah, Rebecca and Dan, all of Little Rock; a brother, Harold Rahn, Jr. and wife, Mary Anne, Upper St. Clair, Pa; and a sister, Jeanne Louise Banham, Norristown, Pa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Rahn and son, David Rahn.
Ken grew up in Palmerton, Pa., and graduated from Palmerton High School, where he played trombone and ran track. After he received a B.S. in engineering from Lehigh University he served with the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps on the island of Hokkaido, Japan. He spent most of his adult life in the Cleveland, Ohio area and spent over 35 years as a metallurgist with TRW, Inc.
In the mid 1960s, he rediscovered his interest in trombone and joined the Bedford Community Band. For over thirty years he played with the Bedford Band, Hillcrest Community Concert Band, Shrine Band, and other community bands in the Cleveland area.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held Friday April 25 at 6:30 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.) Little Rock. Memorials may be made to City Parks Conservancy, P.O. Box 7329, Little Rock 72217 or a favorite charity.
