Ken Hahn passed away January 10, 2024, at his home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was 75. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Debbie Hahn, as well as his parents Hollie Hahn Smith and Ernest Hahn. Ken married Debra “Debbie” Lee Roberts on November 27, 1971, in Waco, Texas, just months after he graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. His work with the oil and gas industry took the couple and their growing family from Houston to New Orleans to El Dorado, Arkansas. He left that industry as an executive with Murphy Oil Corporation.
Having long wanted to be his own boss, Ken eventually bought and managed the property of four apartment complexes in the El Dorado area. Ken and Debbie loved to travel, and with their sons Michael and Andrew, they visited every state in the contiguous United States. Ken also enjoyed working with his hands. In his retirement after Debbie’s passing in 2016, he worked with his “lady friend” Cathy Hathcoat in restoring furniture. Ken also volunteered at Guardian Angels Cat Rescue & Adoption Shelter in Hot Springs.
Ken is survived by son Michael and wife Heather of Nashville, Tennessee, and son Andrew of Fayetteville, Arkansas. His survivors also include Cathy Hathcoat and his sisters Sandra Lee and Pam Hughes. The Hahn family is grateful to Linda Strader, who served as Ken’s caregiver.
To celebrate his life, a memorial service will be held at 10 AM, March 8th at Smith Family Funeral Home, 2205 Airport Road in Hot Springs. The family will receive friends what time/after or before service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Guardian Angels Cat Rescue & Adoption Shelter.
