Kay Lynn Gardner

Kay Lynn Gardner, a beloved elementary teacher and passionate advocate for education, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on June 2, 1948, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kay lived a life characterized by her unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication to nurturing young minds.

Kay was deeply passionate about her faith and was a devoted member of The Way International Ministry, where she served alongside her husband, Walter, as a household fellowship coordinator for 20 years. Her love for God and His word was evident in all aspects of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others.

A proud graduate of High School in Lima, Ohio, Kay furthered her education by earning a Master’s Degree from Ohio Northern University. Her career as an elementary teacher was not merely a job; it was a testament to her commitment to shaping the futures of her students, embodying the qualities of patience and compassion that left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to be in her classroom.

In her personal life, Kay cherished many interests that brought her joy and fulfillment. She enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband, Walter Gardner. This shared passion fostered a sense of adventure and companionship that enriched their life together. Kay had an appreciation for classical music and found solace in the beauty of bird watching—a hobby that connected her to nature. From a young age, she spent many cherished moments restoring old cars alongside her father. Over the years, she also collected various rocks, each holding its own story and significance.

Kay is survived by her loving husband, Walter Gardner; her brother, Les Gilford; and her cherished fur baby, Blazer. She is remembered with deep affection by those whose lives she touched, including her friends, students, and members of her community.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Joyce Gilford. Their love and guidance laid the foundation for the remarkable woman she became.
