Katie Ann Hughes, 82, of Benton, Arkansas passed away on February 4, 2014. She was born on August 31, 1931 in Star City, Arkansas to the late Palmer A. McFalls and Maude Eleanor Buck McFalls.
Katie was a charter member of Parkview United Methodist Church. She was recognized as United Methodist Women Woman of the Year and Parkview UMC Mother of the Year in 2008. Katie was a member of the Arkansas State Women's Bowling Association and served as a WIBC board member. She was honored as Arkansas Senior Women State Bowling Champion.
Katie is survived by sons, Robert C. Hughes, Jr. and wife Kathy, Alan W. Hughes and wife Laurie, and Mark K. Hughes; brothers, Thomas McFalls and Vernon McFalls; sister, Bobbie Sue McBryde; grandchildren, Amanda Mills and husband David, Eric Hughes, Patrick Hughes, James Hughes, and Benjamin Hughes, as well as many other family members and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her always.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Robert C. Hughes, Sr.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 7th, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Parkview United Methodist Church, 514 N. Border, Benton, AR, officiated by Rev. Walt Garrett. Pallbearers are Eric Hughes, David Mills, Patrick Hughes, James Hughes, Benjamin Hughes, Jeff Baldwin and George Smith. A reception visitation will be held Thursday, February 6th, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Home, 322 N. Market, Benton, AR. For more information, call 501-778-7100.
