Kathryn Marie Vachon completed this life March 17, 2018. She was born January 30, 1921 in Canton, Ohio to Harry Franklin Lopshire and Angus Mae (Sorgen) Lopshire. She cherished her life in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as beloved wife to Don Franklin Vachon and devoted mother of her only child.
Kathryn was a cook. She believed that cooking was love made visible. From organizing church events to supervising Sunday bible school, from successfully running her own diner to managing the church food bank and eventually administrating a school lunch program, Kate believed everyday should be Thanksgiving for someone, somewhere. She moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to help raise, nourish, and enjoy her grandchildren.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and three sisters. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Keith Alan Vachon and daughter-in-law, Gabriela Raquel Vachon of Little Rock, and by her sister, Madelyn Jane Knuth of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren, Kyle Alan, Zachary Wayne, Melissa Nicole, Lucas Benjamin, and a precious great-granddaughter, Tegan. Heaven can wait-she had a taste of paradise, her grandchildren, and only now is she done cooking.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Home Care of Little Rock for the unwavering compassion they showed our mother. Angels do make their presence known everyday.
