Kathleen Mary Doud, 64, of Little Rock, was received Home by her Creator and Lord on Monday, June 16, 2008. Survivors include her husband, Barnie Gene Doud; sons, Shawn Timothy Doud (Nancy) and Eric Gerald Doud; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, June 23 from 5-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), with services at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at The Summit Church in North Little Rock.
Mrs. Doud was known as "Mrs. Kathleen" by the 5th and 6th grade girls that she taught, grateful parents in Little Rock, and the children in sanitariums and orphanages in Russia. Mrs. Kathleen spent two summers in Russia for mission trips and six other mission trips. Her heart and passion remained the love for her Savior and teaching the Word of God. Mrs. Kathleen used her two gifts of love and teaching with the girls, "her girls", 5th and 6th graders all over the world. She taught them about Jesus in Creation, His redemption, His coming, His defeat of Satan and God's rewarding of the Saints. But most importantly, they learned of His great love and God's grace from her and her life. She has authored two Bible studies for pre-teens, written specifically for her ministry with the 5th and 6th grade girls. They were "My Heart Christ's Home," and "The Scarlet Thread of Redemption," both of which she used in her ministry outreach in Russia.
Mrs. Doud chose to put off fear and not be dismayed in her 28 year battle with cancer. She always chose to believe and turn her eyes to the goodness, power and love of God. Her faithful husband of nearly 39 years, Barnie, was involved in the entire ministry God allowed her to do, both in Little Rock and around the world. Mrs. Doud's friends and colleagues were at FamilyLife Ministry in Little Rock, Campus Crusade for Christ-where she served on staff faithfully for 42 years, churches in California, The Bible Church of Little Rock, and The Summit Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
What a delight, gift, joy, and blessing to have known Mrs. Kathleen. We all rejoice with Kathleen in her glorification and Home going-where there is no more pain, suffering, or tears.
