Katherine Veasey, age 78, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017. She was born on February 17, 1939 in Pine Bluff, the daughter of Thomas David Gannaway and Wanda McCracken Gannaway. On November 4, 1957, she married Robert Veasey who preceded her in death April 25, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Katherine was Baptist in faith. She attended college at the University of Arkansas, Monticello and worked for 31 years as a secretary for Lawrence Land and Timber. She enjoyed her job, especially the long lunch hours with her friends. Katherine enjoyed reading mystery novels and loved cats. She was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan and saw them win the World Series in 2016. Katherine enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Holly Veasey of Monroe, Louisiana; two daughters and one son-in-law, Valerie Veasey-Johnson of Glenwood and Vickie and Dennis Bradley of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Paul Bradley, Marissa Veasey, Ryan Veasey and Mark Veasey; two great-grandchildren, Abel Bradley and Caroline Bradley; and one brother and sister-in-law, David and Betty Gannaway of Lonoke. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 5, 2017 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
