Katherine Lee Solomon, wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with our Lord on October 2, 2020. Katherine was born January 24, 1924, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Anna L. Pruitt and Henry M. Pruitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, W. A. Solomon (Sol), her brother Dr. William Pruitt and his wife Juanita Pruitt, their son Bobby Pruitt, her sister Mildred Herring, brother-in-law Donald Herring, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth A. Solomon. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Solomon (Brenda Solomon) and Randall Solomon (Janine Solomon) and grandchildren David Solomon, Breanna Zaborowski, Ryan Solomon, Kevin Solomon, Nicholas Solomon and Mark Solomon. She is also survived by nieces, Debbie Pruitt Shearer, Marsha Pruitt Hays, and Mindy Herring Baird.
Katherine started her working career as a nurse anesthetist at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, but quit working to devote time to raising her two sons. Later, Katherine worked for the Arkansas Department of Health in St. Francis and Phillips counties to aid underprivileged residents of those areas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In younger years, Katherine enjoyed being a mother and a homemaker and time spent at holiday get-togethers with family. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Katherine and her beloved Sol traveled in their RV after they retired to many places, with her favorite trip being to Alaska and Denali Park. After her memory starting failing, she liked taking Sunday drives through Bedford looking at the trees and homes. And she liked having a big piece of chocolate cake at Cracker Barrel!
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020, at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205, https://www.alzark.org.
