Katherine (Kay) Lee Allen, 97, formerly of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away February 1, 2022. She was born in Los Angeles, California on November 23, 1924.
She was preceded in death by her parents: stepfather Emmett Anisworth, mother Harriette, and husband of 70 years, Charles "Seab" Allen. Survivors include her daughter, Jan Allen Hilts and husband Bob of Memphis Tennessee; step-grandchildren, Tracy and Kelly Hilts; cousins, Gail Allen and Gus Allen of Little Rock, AR; niece, Sheila Eppes and nephews, Sidney Eppes, Joe Stanley "Bubba" Eppes of Texas and extended family and many close friends.
Kay was a California girl 'til she married Seab, a true southern boy, who brought her home to Arkansas in 1946, need I say "culture shock". But she quickly adjusted to become an Arkansan and Razorback fan. She made many friends, young and old, with her lovely ways and dry wit. Her upbringing during the depression stayed with her through her life. She was frugal and avoided waste of any kind which attributed to her delicious scratch recipes and cooking. She was gracious and honest, had impeccable manners but outspoken and made her opinions known on what was right and wrong. Always fashionable, Kay loved entertaining or enjoying the company of family and many friends. Kay loved to travel, cook, play bridge, square dancing, volunteering for many civic and church groups and shop... and shop "especially" for shoes. She also was a devoted American patriot who loved this country and its great history.
She was an active member of Lakewood Methodist Church and past President of P.E.O., United Methodist Women Church, and Sunday school teacher at times. She was also past President of the North Little Rock Junior Service League and PTA member at Lakewood Elementary School and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader of her daughters troops. In the late 50s, she won a title of Mrs. North Little Rock Homemaker. An avid animal lover having many pets throughout her life, most memorable our dog named "King" who made us a bit well known in our area for being a trick and "talking" dog. But her beloved family and longtime close friends, were the most important part of her life.
Visitation will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 am.
