Karroll Morphew, age 86, of Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
Karroll was born on July 11, 1937, in the Old Bonnerdale Community, the daughter of Hubert and Jewell Wright. On November 27, 1958, she married Jim Morphew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
For several years after graduating from high school in Glenwood, Karroll worked as a cashier at the Bank of Glenwood. After Jim and Karroll were married they started their new journey in life. While Jim was away attending college, Karroll continued to work at the bank. Together they were a strong team for almost sixty-five years. She was also blessed with four children, whom she loved with all her heart.
Karroll loved the outdoors and everything associated with it, especially fishing, gardening and even helping Jim cruise timber. She was an exceptional seamstress and quilter, as well. Karroll and Jim traveled to many states and cities over a thirty year period, and following Jim's retirement from the United States Forest Service, they returned to Glenwood , where they built their retirement home. One of Karroll's greatest joys was writing the Bonnerdale news column each week for the Glenwood Herald newspaper.
Karroll was a born again Christian and lived her life for the Lord. She had a fulfilling life centered around her family in every possible way. Karroll was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but most of all Karroll was Jim's best friend. She was kindhearted, and showed this by being the best neighbor and friend to all that knew her.
Karroll is survived by her loving husband, Jim Morphew of Glenwood; her three daughters and one son, Martha Ham and her husband, J.R., of Versailles, Kentucky, Jonathan Morphew and his wife, Rhonda, of Winchester, Kentucky, Nancy Lee and her husband, Bobby, of Diboll, Texas, Emily Jordan and her husband, Art, of Lufkin, Texas. In addition, she has five grandsons, Matthew and his wife, Sarah, Zachary, Thomas, Seth and Ethan; one granddaughter, Reagan; and two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Madelyn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 18, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Samuel Anderson and Bro. Keith Shewbart officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel at 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.
Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.
