Karene Lois Benson Jones, born March 3, 1939, to Thelma and Swan Benson at Wahkon, Minnesota died April 16, 2025, in North Little Rock. She was an Elder and member of Park Hill Presbyterian Church, having served on several committees in the church, at the Presbytery level, at Synod of the Sun as well as having served as a commissioner to General Assembly. She received two Life Memberships from Presbyterian Women and served for five years on the national Churchwide board. She was a member of PEO Chapter W and volunteered for several years at Stewpot. Karene was a past member of the GFWC North Little Rock Woman’s Club. She was an advocate for those in need. She enjoyed her bridge and card groups.

Karene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. LeMoyne Jones; siblings: Blanche Monson Nichols, Merle Monson, Milfred Monson, Edward Monson, Karl Benson, Margaret Benson Hutson (Woody); and former husband, Curtis Hanson.

Surviving are her children: Candice Hanson Jackson (Michael), Dale Hanson (Susan) and Connie Hanson Wear (Steve), Grandchildren: Stephanie Wear (Antowne Parks), Beth Wear Thomas (Cole), Allen Wear (Jennifer), John Jackson (Tiffany), Jeffrey Jackson (Andrea), Marcus Hanson, Danielle Hanson Bourg (Raleigh) and Derek Hanson and great-grandchildren, Kanada Weigt Schmidt (Jozef), Abbigail Davidson, Darcy Thomas, Molly Thomas, Aletheia Jackson, Amiens Jackson, Zachary Jackson, Tristan Jackson, Ryker Jackson, Everly Jackson, Addison Bourg, and Emerson Bourg.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Park Hill Presbyterian Church (3520 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock) followed by a reception in fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Hill Presbyterian Church. Karene’s ashes will be buried next to her grandfather, John Alfred Benson.
