Karen Renee Ragsdale

Karen Renee Ragsdale, 60, of Benton, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2025. Karen was born March 5th, 1965 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Karen was a happy, energetic, and spirited child who grew into a beautiful young lady. She was a blessing to her immediate and extended family. From a young age, Karen had a love for animals; her heart was touched by any stray, and she would have adopted them all had it been possible. As an adult, she worked tirelessly for many years to rescue hundreds (possibly thousands) of dogs, and facilitated their adoption to "forever homes" across the country. She was a strong advocate for the Saline County Humane Society/Animal Shelter. Her dog Bayou was her most faithful companion for many years. Karen worked for Southwestern Bell, now AT&T, as an operator and engineer.

Karen is survived by her father, Elbert Ragsdale; her sister, Tonia Cox; her niece, Sabrina Cox; beloved aunts, uncles and cousins from Arkansas, to Georgia, to California.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Ragsdale; her paternal grandparents, Hilbert and Willie Bea Ragsdale; her maternal grandparents Charles and Opal Cockman and Lawrence and Ruby Ragsdale; and her brother-in-law, Greg Cox. She also has a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends waiting to rejoice with her in Heaven.

Karen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Benton, Arkansas since 1976.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, March 28, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, followed by funeral service, officiated by Bro. Clif Springer, at 2:00 PM. Burial held at Green Cemetery in Jessieville, Arkansas following funeral services.
