Karen May

Karen Louise Spillyards May, 69, of North Little Rock passed away December 13, 2016. She was born May 4, 1947 in Pine Bluff to Howard Leroy and Betty Catherine Burt Spillyards. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School, attended Henderson State Teachers College, now Henderson University and was a member of an Acapella Choir for 3 years. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, was a medical secretary for 22 years in Pine Bluff and North Little Rock and a secretary at Baring Cross Baptist Church for over 17 years. She loved listening to music, singing in choirs, the Women's Ministry, building/remodeling/decorating at home and church, making afghans for great nieces/nephews and friends' babies, reading, scrap booking and especially playing with and reading to Asher, Fisher and Collin and watching them grow. Her greatest privileges in life: being a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and raising two beautiful and beloved children.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Leroy Spillyards and brother, Kenneth Burt Spillyards. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, W. Thomas May; mother, Betty Catherine Burt Spillyards of North Little Rock; brother, Roger Leroy Spillyards (Linda) of Memphis, Tennessee; children, Bradley Thomas May (Susan), Catherine Susanne May Davidson of North Little Rock; grandsons, Asher Evans Davidson, Fisher Thomas May and Collin Bradley May, all of North Little Rock; aunt, Doris Werts, of Urbana, Illinois, uncle, Robert Burt (Joann) of Champaign, Illinois; two sister-in-laws, Lou Alice May and Kathy May Dean (Pete) of Little Rock; twelve first cousins, nephews, nieces and many friends; and her special friends, Caregivers Support Group PHBC.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19th at Park Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18th at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home.
