Karen Louise Callahan

Karen Louise Callahan, 75, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away January 6, 2024.  She was born May 8, 1948, in Cambridge, Massachusetts and early in life moved to Tampa, Florida. Karen was raised by a devout Catholic family and the daughter of Armand and Marie Mercier.

In 1966 Karen met her husband to be Joseph M. Callahan. They exchanged their vows of marriage on July 22, 1967, and went off to live in a number of different stateside as well as overseas locations due to Joe's active military career.

Karen was a certified Emergency Medical Technician. She worked in various locations in the medical field including volunteering as an EMT at the Gravel Ridge Fire Department. Joe recalls that on occasion she would return home late at night covered with smoke and soot but still smiling through it all!

She resided in North Little Rock, Arkansas with her loving family since 1980. She developed many friendships through activities at Immaculate Conception Church and more recently St. Anne Church.

Along the journey Karen brought into this world three children whom she adored and raised.

Karen is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband Joseph; her sisters Marie (Charles) and Judy (Joe); her children Ann (Toni), Emily (Travis) and Michael (Allison); her grandchildren Kya, Carson, and Cooper and her loyal canine companion Tilly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karen’s name to St. Anne Catholic Church, 6150 Remount Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30AM on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at St. Anne Catholic Church with burial following at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00PM.
