Karen Suzette "Suzie" Bass, born on October 29, 1970, left this world on May 26, 2024. Suzie was a beacon of light for all who knew her, dedicating life to caring for children through her home childcare service. Her nurturing spirit created bonds that transcended mere caretaking; the children she looked after became an extension of her own family, a testament to the depth of her love and compassion.
Suzie's unwavering commitment to serving others earned her the title of a true "Giver." Her selflessness and dedication were evident in every aspect of her life. Beyond her professional endeavors, Suzie found joy in simple pleasures like rooting for the Dallas Cowboys during their games and embarking on travel adventures to destinations like Arizona to visit her beloved son Sterlyn, Las Vegas, and to Texas to visit her family.
Family was at the core of Suzie's being, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her husband, Jimmie Ray Bass; son Robert Gately; and sister Donna Daniel precede her in death. Cherishing her memory are Sterlyn Gately from Phoenix, Arizona; daughter Sarah Hudson and son-in-law Brad from Benton, Arkansas; grandchildren Ayla, Bryie, Blakely, Jesse, Maggie, Kasen, Audrey, and Maisy; mother Charlotte James from Dallas, Texas; father John Melton Sr. and stepmother Bernice from Eustice, Texas; brother John Melton Jr. from Dallas; sister Diane Melton from Dallas; along with numerous other family members and friends who held a special place in Suzie's heart.
A visitation and memorial service in honor of Suzie will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton on Friday, June 7th. The visitation will commence at 2:00 PM followed by the memorial service starting at 2:30 PM as we gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many.
Although Suzie may no longer walk among us, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the warmth she brought into the lives she touched.
Arrangements entrusted to Smith Benton Funeral Home.
