J.W. Blackwood

J.W. “Dub” Blackwood, age 93, of Little Rock was promoted to his eternal home on July 8, 2019.  He was born April 11, 1926 in Adamsville, TN to A.J. and Ivy Blackwood.

Dub served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WWII in the South Pacific as an Amphibious Landing Operator.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joyce Mason Blackwood, daughter Judy Sinele (husband Ford), sisters Mary Frances Bowen and Clara Jean Dobson both of Stuttgart, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Dub was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Ivy Blackwood, a daughter Janice Gail Henderson, brothers James and Charles Blackwood and infant grandson Andrew Sinele.

For the loving care that Dub received in his final days, the family would like to thank the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital, Arkansas Hospice and Briarwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Memorial tribute to Dub will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 19 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Funeral Home with visitation on hour prior to service at 10:30.  Committal will follow service at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
