J. W. Bell, age 87, of Mountain Pine, went home to be with Jesus on August 31, 2022.
He was born on September 26, 1934, in Mulberry, Arkansas. The son of James Oscar Bell and Ella Marie Bell. He married the love of his life, Edna Rorie, on July 27, 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Vivian Herrin, Ruby Davis, Lillian Wallen and Robbie Jackson; and three brothers, Jess Bell, Ode Bell and Tobe Bell.
J.W. was a Christian and a member of the Mountain Pine Assembly of God church. He loved to tell anyone he met how he was healed of cancer, and how good God has been to him. He loved being outdoors and spent many hours fishing at Blakely Mountain Dam. He was known for making handcrafted walking canes for anyone who needed them. At the nursing home he was constantly roaming the halls, visiting with the staff and constantly whistling. He always had a big smile and hug for everyone. He was a United States Army Veteran. He retired from Weyerhaeuser after 27 years working as a millwright, and maintenance leadman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Edna Bell of Mountain Pine; his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Tina Bell of Donaldson; two grandchildren, Victoria and Shawn LeBouef of Conway and Chase Bell of Malvern; two great-grandchildren, Braydon Pieper and Amelia LeBouef of Conway; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in the Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
Visitation will be 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Timothy English, the staff of Quapaw Nursing & Rehab, the members of Mountain Pine Assembly of God Church and Shawn LeBouef.
