On October 21st 1975 was born a passionate and distinctive soul, Julie Ann Lopez.
Born in Mission Texas & grew up in Rio Grande Texas, “El Valle” as she loved to call her sweet hometown. Julie grew up in a one-bedroom house with her mother and Grandmother. Anyone who knew Julie felt how much love she had for her Grandmother Lola who she called “Ama”. Her grandmother was truly a part of who she was. Her upbringing consisted of spending time with her Ama and helping her clean houses/Iron clothes. They were inseparable. If Julie wasn’t with her Ama she was with her cousin Terry. Who she called Prima. Julie and her cousin were always together! Always laughing and joking together!
Julie experienced the passing of her grandmother at a young age and eventually moved to Benton, Arkansas. Little did she know the big things that were going to come! Julie over the years had 3 Children (Alejandro Garza) (Isaac Garza) & (Meredith Sura). Her children and her Husband of 17 years Alejandro Lopez were the reason she was who she was. With every breath and every part of her being she made sure her family knew the love she had for them. She had a special bond with all her children and left each of them with beautiful memories to cherish forever. Julie was a beautiful very affectionate and loving mother. When she became a grandmother herself, she fell in love all over again with her Granddaughter Catalina Sura. She made the most out of the short time they had together. Catalina will forever have her memory of her Mama. She loved spoiling Catalina!
Julie enjoyed many things in life. She loved the outdoors and the appreciated the natural beauty of the world. She made many memories with her family camping out at her ranch, building her dream home! Her garden was her pride and joy she had a green thumb for all plants! She loved to water her plants and sip her sweet tea.
Julie loved reading books, writing letters and even writing her own poetry. She was passionate when she was writing, when she would sing, when she would cry. Her children will always remember the beautiful memories of her cooking and singing in the kitchen, making her sweet tea! And the long conversations always accompanied by laughter! It didn’t matter if she was cleaning, baking, or outside doing yard work she was always listening to music and singing with all her emotions. She was the definition of entrepreneur She had many businesses in Benton, Arkansas. Restaurants, Translating, Clothing store. And eventually dipping into Remodeling homes! She was the person all her family/Friends even strangers looked to for a helping hand. She always had an answer for your every question. If she didn’t have the answer, she would make one up! Often a joke in the family she was the “Lawyer without a title”. Her laugh was infectious it made you want to laugh and instantly would put anyone in a better mood. She always had a smile on her face.
If you were ever around Julie, you know what a presence she was. She was fearless, even in the toughest times you never saw her fear anything. She could walk in the room, and you knew she was there.
