Judith Ann Runyan, also known as “Judy” and “Meme”, age 75, of Amity, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021.
She was born on January 10, 1946, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Ray Clifford Owens and Daisy Mae Langston Owens. On June 4, 1965, she married Cloys L. Runyan who preceded her in death on May 18, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard Owens; and her sister, Katherine O’Connell.
Judy was a Christian in her faith and attended Amity Second Baptist Church. A 1964 graduate of Amity High School, Judy became a licensed hairdresser and worked in that profession about six years. From 1979 to 2000, she was employed by the Pulaski County School District and the Little Rock School District from which she retired. After moving back to Amity in 2000, Judy and Cloys owned and operated Judy’s Affiliated Grocery for twelve years. The last four years, Judy was a “Grandma” at Centerpoint Elementary School where she assisted teachers, students and was loved by everyone. Judy adored spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Kayla. She enjoyed flower arranging, coloring in her adult coloring books, watching scary movies, entertaining with her quick wit and being the center of attention. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Jon Coon; her granddaughter and her husband, Kayla and Pake Sutton; her chosen granddaughter, Kierstin Pittman, all of Amity; her sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn Ray and Jimmy Garroutte of Hot Springs and June Vaughn of Littleton, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 2, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Jimmy Forsythe and Bro. John McAnally officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning, 9:30 AM until service time.
Interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry O’Connell, Daniel Forsythe, Dustin Forsythe, Pake Sutton, Dusty Skates and Eldon Hill.
