Juanita Knox

Ruby Juanita Knox age 86 of Hot Springs, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The daughter of Alberta and George Gardner, she was born February 21, 1923 in Halfway, Oregon. Mrs. Knox was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Knox of Arkadelphia. She was a retired high school English teacher. A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia, she was active in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Presbyterian Women. For many years, with Louise Rhodes, she led Girl Scout Troop 240. Mrs. Knox was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and PEO. Her passions included her church work, gardening, reading, fishing, traveling, and most especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Demott of Hot Springs, Melinda Housch of Springfield, VA, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in the First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia with Rev. Kendal Land officiating.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Henderson State University Foundation for English Scholarships.
