Joyce Stovall, 81, of Little Rock, passed away June 29, 2021. She was born May 12, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Ethel and Earl Kearbey, who preceded her in death along with her husband, John Robert (Bob) Stovall and brother, E.L. Kearbey.
She is survived by her son, J. Robert Stovall Jr. (Cathryn); daughter, Jennifer Stovall Predmore (Greg); grandchildren, Kayla and Jarod Stovall, and Kirby Woodall; brother, Larry Kearbey (Cynthia); and nephews, Eric Kearbey, Ryan Kearbey (Kim) and Lee Kearbey (Karen).
Joyce loved her family, friends, church and community. She was Jaycee Wives President in Poplar Bluff, Missouri in 1962 before she moved to Little Rock in 1964.
When at First Christian Church she was a Children’s Sunday School teacher, C.W.F. Vice-President, President of S.S. (Pairs & Spares), Vacation Bible School teacher, and served on the Search Committee for Minister. She joined St. James United Methodist in 2007 where she served as Circle Leader, and participated in Forum S.S. Class, Prayer shawl ministries, mission under the bridge and many Bible Studies.
She loved decorating for all of the Holidays, having parties and serving her community. When her children were young, she worked in the VIPS program (Volunteer in Public Schools), was a Room Mother for both children, and PTA President. She also was a volunteer at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital gift shop and was a member of ACHA.
She was President of two book clubs, Potpourri and 2nd Friday Book Club, belonged to the Wildflowers Garden Club and was Vice-President of Arkopolis Antique Club. She played in Bridge Clubs with longtime friends and neighbors.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Friday, July 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. We ask that you wear bright colors in her memory.
