Joyce Standridge

Joyce Ann Baier Standridge, 83, of Little Rock reunited with her family, friends, and our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, August 26, 2019. She was born to the late Albert Frank Baier and Mary Anna Weber Baier on November 11, 1935, in Booneville, Arkansas. She graduated from Plum Bayou High School in 1953. Later that year, she married Harold Shady Standridge on November 20.

She was beloved by all and loved her family deeply. Over the years, many of their friends and family were treated to Joyce’s special lemonade, homemade ice cream, pies and warm hospitality. She lovingly crafted hand-stitched baby quilts for her daughters, granddaughters, nieces, nephews and special friends. Joyce and Harold worked for years and retired together from Teletype, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Joyce's accomplishments there were recognized with multiple awards; she solved problems even the engineers could not. Joyce and her husband, Harold, were children of sharecroppers. Joyce and Harold built a legacy by becoming the first of their families to build and own their own home in 1960. Together they cleared two acres of wooded forest by hand along with the help of family and friends. She influenced many lives with her tenderness and tenacity. Joyce was a long-time member of Archview Baptist Church and will forever be in our hearts and sadly missed.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Irene Riddling, Dorothy Lilly, Lawrence, Jimmy, Ella Mae, Charles Ray, and Robert Baier. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold Shady Standridge; daughters, Rhonda House (Dennis) of The Villages, FL, and Carolyn Easley (Gary) of Bryant, AR; granddaughters, Meridith House, Shelle House, Carrie Easley; and great granddaughters, Brooklynn Lyons and Lillyanna Lyons along with siblings Mary Knisley (Jeff) of Knoxville, TN, and Tommy Baier of Guy, AR, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home followed by interment at 1:00 p.m. at the Pisgah Cemetery in Pottsville, Arkansas.   Online guestbook at www.SmithFamilyCares.com
