Joyce Morrow, nee Shearlock, passed into the Greater Glory of God on March 23, 2018. Joyce was born September 13, 1933, in Illinois, to Cleta and Al Shearlock. Upon graduation from high school, she joined the US Naval Reserve's WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service), serving through the end of the Korean War. Joyce was stationed in San Diego, where she met and married Vernon Morrow. After the war, they transferred to Washington, D.C. until they both were honorably discharged, and returned to Illinois.
Joyce and Vern were married 64 years. Having moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1964, they raised two daughters, who later made them Memaw and Grandpa to grandkids, Emma and Dillon.
Joyce loved her girls and was very active in the PTA while they were in school. She also was a working mom before it was "cool," often serving as a secretary to different companies, and later, in the U.S. Post Office, from which she retired. It was a good life.
Joyce was pre-deceased by her husband, Vernon. She is survived by her daughters, Genia Morrow Belzung and Lisa Morrow Edmondson of San Antonio, Texas; by her grandchildren, Emma Belzung and Dillon Edmondson of San Antonio, Texas; and by her brother, Ronald Shearlock, his wife, Carol and family, of Illinois.
Mrs. Morrow's funeral will be held in Arkansas, where she will be interred with her husband, Vernon. Donations in Joyce's name are welcomed, and would be especially meaningful to an Alzheimer's charity, or the charity of your choice.
