Joyce M. Brown, age 90, of Caddo Gap, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
She was born on February 19, 1932, in Joiner, Arkansas, the daughter of John Jack Parsons and Cora Lee Petty Parsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; and six sisters, Jackie, Ella, Dovie, Louise, Barbara and Faye.
In 1948, in Joyce’s homeroom class, a young boy named Eugene looked over her way and was able to catch her eye and she unknowingly gave this young boy one of her beautiful smiles and he was completely smitten from that day forward. On January 10, 1952, this love story continued when Joyce was married to the true love of her life, Eugene Brown.
She was a faithful member of the Norman First Baptist Church. Joyce loved to entertain and have get-togethers for her family and friends any opportunity she would get. She never met a stranger and was always happy, with a beautiful smile every time you saw her. She loved to play all type of games, especially with children. Her favorite game was dominoes, which she was a genius at, and she would use the opportunity while playing dominoes to teach kids their numbers and how to count.
Above all, Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, who loved her family with all her heart. Joyce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Brown of Caddo Gap; her daughter, Toyia Brown of Southaven, Mississippi and her niece who she loved like her own daughter, Brenda Anderson of Horn Lake, Mississippi; her grandson, Tommy Seawright and his wife, Joceylyn of Horn Lake, Mississippi; her great-granddaughter, Sophia Seawright; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
The family will hold a Memorial Service to celebrate Joyce's life, at 11:00 AM, Sunday, May 15, 2022, in the Norman First Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Loudermilk officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood.
