Joy A. Mitchell

Joy A. Mitchell, 87, of Little Rock, passed away on January 27, 2023. Born January 21, 1936 in Orange County, California to Clint Edward and Estelle Shanklin Whitten, she was a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She loved traveling.   She was close to her family and especially loved spending time with her granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Tassie Coy “Dick” Mitchell, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by her sons, Ron Mitchell of Little Rock and Greg Mitchell of Cabot; brothers, Clint Whitten and Lyle Whitten, both of California; two granddaughters, Kate Mitchell and Abby Mitchell, both of Little Rock; longtime friend, Ray Fleming and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, February 6 from 4-6 p.m. at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct.  Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery  in North Little Rock.
