Joy Ann Corley

Joy Ann (Wilson) Corley, 74, of Bismarck, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2023. 

 

She was born December 31, 1948, to the late Roy Ervin Wilson and Betty Leeoma (Allen) Wilson in Bismarck. 

 

Joy married Govan Sylvester Corley on April 30, 1965. Joy became a mother of twins, Todd and Tonya, on April 19, 1967 and Blake on September 3, 1975. 

 

She was a strong woman and feminist who had many occupations. Notably, Joy served as the first female forklift operator at National Rejectors and the first female Wonder Bread truck driver.  She was also a hairdresser for many years. Her finest career accomplishment was owning Corley Contract Hauling. 

 

Joy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bismarck.  She was a caretaker of all, always there to help anyone in need. 

She stitched love into every quilt she made.  She had an unmatched love of plants and flowers. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Leon (Charlene) Wilson, James (Jeannie) Wilson, Louie (Estelle) Wilson and Clovis (Connie) Wilson. 

 

Joy is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Govan Sylvester Corley; her children: Todd (Beth) Corley, Tonya (Mike) Bingham and Blake (Shawna) Corley, all of Bismarck; her grandchildren: Trenton (Alexa) Corley, Tanner Corley, Lauren Corley, Tosha (Chris) Collie, Kacey (Matt) Lucas, Connor Corley, Callie Corley, Sarah (Jordan) Washburn, Rebecca (Cody) Beene, and Matt Bingham; her seven great-grandchildren; her brother Pete (Carolyn) Wilson; her sisters: Imogene (Roy) Weatherford, Carolene Thomas and Zola (Jimmy) Willis and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church-Bismarck with Brother Hal Dixon and Brother Bill Carter officiating. 

 

Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery following the service. 

 

Pallbearers will be Wayne Weatherford, Mike Rucker, Mike Wilson, Dennis Thomas, Jeremy Willis and Steve Wilson.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ cemetery fund. 

 

Arrangements are entrusted to Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home, 517 Clay Street, Arkadelphia, Arkansas 71923.
