Josie Mae Watkins

Josie Mae Watkins, 90, of North Little Rock went to be with the Lord, July 31, 2023.  She was the only daughter, born to the late Myrtle (Tucker) and Robert Butler on June 24, 1933 in Nevada County, AR.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers; and the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, Charles L Watkins.

Survivors include her children, Robert D. Watkins; Shelia K. Schneider (Tommy); Charles R. Watkins (Rhonda); Sandra J. Elliott (Mike); Jerry A. Watkins (Tara); 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many.

She was a faithful member of Park Hill Baptist Church for 47 years where she taught Sunday School and served as the coordinator of older preschoolers.  She enjoyed listening to her Sunday School Class by phone after Covid hit, and also when she wasn’t able to attend for health reasons.

Her relationship with God was #1 in her life.  She enjoyed shopping (always looking for the best deals), estate and garage sales, playing cards at the Community Center, family reunions and spending time with kids and grandkids.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 4, 2023, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home.  She will be laid to rest at the AR State Veterans Cemetery with her husband, Charles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

A special thank you to her very loving caregivers who made it possible to stay in her home for four years after her husband’s death:  Saline County Hospice and Pleasant Hill Care Home.
