Josephine Ehemann Payne, born November 19, 1910 in Atkins, died peacefully in her Little Rock home on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Jo Payne will be laid to rest in the Church of the Assumption cemetery in Atkins beside Jay Payne. her husband of 59 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Maggie Ehemann and nine of her eleven siblings.
Surviving Jo Payne are her sisters, Louise Kaufman of Hattieville, AR and Martha Jauregui of Madera, CA; daughters, Sylvia Payne, Sandra Payne Kahler and Susan Payne Maddox all of Little Rock; granddaughters, Lara Kahler and Stephanie Roberts of Little Rock and Stacie Smith of Austin Texas; grandsons, Beau Kahler of Ft. Collins, CO and Jason Payne Kahler of Little Rock; plus eight great grandchildren, countless beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Jo?s name to Arkansas Hospice would be a fitting tribute to the incredible care they gave her and to others, a number too great to calculate.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family at a Rosary Service at Lemley?s Funeral Home in Atkins at 7:00 PM Friday, June 12. Family visitation begins at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Saturday morning, June 13, at the Church of the Assumption. Father Ernie Hardesty will officiate at both services with numerous nieces and nephews participating in the funeral Mass. Pallbearers are grandsons, Beau and Jason Kahler; great grandson, Alex Christ; nephews, Gary Kaufman and Greg Roberts; and great nephew, Jordon Roman. A reception in the church hall will follow the graveside ceremony. All are welcome.
