Joseph Winchester Moncus, Jr., age 92, of Amity, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015. He was born on November 7, 1922, in Fort Smith, the son of Joseph Winchester Moncus, Sr. and Glen Gertrude Adams Moncus. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Pete Moncus, John Moncus, Claudie Moncus and Jack Moncus; and two sisters, Reba Reeves and Lillian B. Moncus. He was a U.S. Army retiree, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict and a welder. He is survived by six sisters and their spouses, Stella and Hilton Higginbottom of Canoga Park, California, Birdie Spradlin of Tyler, Texas, Dr. Pat Davies of Sacramento, California, Martha and Jerry Eppler of Sacramento, California, Helen Harrison of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Mary Cerny of Sacramento, California and Betty and Jerry Buck of Alpine; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 19, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. John Adams officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment with full U.S. Army military honors will be in the Coker Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Ray, Jon Harrison, Jackie Moncus, Roger Spradlin, Joe Buck and Mark Reeves. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
