Joseph Masty, Jr., age 81 passed away on Feb 29, 2008 at the VA Hospital in LR after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
He was born on April 4, 1926 in Chicago, IL. After serving in the US Navy he met and married Frances Pruss Masty, and they moved to Arkansas to start their life together. He is preceded in death by his wife.
Mr. Masty is survived by his only child, Laurie Masty, a brother, Ken Masty of Chicago, IL, plus countless friends who became his family, along with many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and a long time resident of the Marche area.
2008 marked the 49th year of Mr. Masty's Accounting business. His customers and his business were his love and passion. To his cherished customers, he was much more than just a "tax man", or an Accountant; he was a true friend, confidant, and sometimes a lawyer, doctor and psychologist. He genuinely cared for each and everyone of them. Even in his last days as he was laying in the hospital, you would hear him say, "I need to get out of here! It's tax season and I need to get some returns done!"
His daughter would like to express her deepest appreciation and thoughts to the nurses and the staff of the Oncology section and "6C" of the VA Hospital. Their genuine care and concern made a difference. Also, special thanks to Bonnie Moix who gave selflessly. Her commitment as a long time employee and friend is priceless.
