Joseph Warren Jakonczuk, 79, of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away on April 29, 2023. He was born February 13, 1944, in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Joseph Jakonczuk and Mildred Parker.
Joe served in the U.S. Navy enlisting upon graduating from High School, serving aboard the USS Mauna Loa AE-8 as a machinist. He also worked as an Engineer in Research and Development at Remington Arms for 27 years until he retired in 1994. In his free time, he loved shooting trap, hunting, building remote control airplanes, building banjos, and playing bluegrass music. Joe was also inducted into the Arkansas Trap Shooting Hall of Fame in 1998 for his talents. Joe was a Mason and was also a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Joe is leaving behind his wife, Charlotte; his three sons, John, Jeffrey and Joseph Jakonczuk, Jr.; two bonus daughters, Michelle Raper and Gina Neely; one grandson, Jake Jakonczuk; four granddaughters, Raven, Kaitlyn, Robin and Sophie; a great granddaughter, Wynter; and his bluegrass family. The family would also like to thank Conway Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, Arkansas 72012 on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. The visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m., also at Westbrook.
