Jose Mendoza-Alvarez

April 15, 1943 — March 15, 2024

Hot Springs

Jose was called home on March 15th, 2024 surrounded by his family in
Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born on April 15,1943 in La Laguneta,
Michoacan, Mexico to parents Jose and Maria Mendoza.
Jose was not only a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather,
and uncle to his family, but also a bubbly friend to all. He was extremely
passionate about music and loved composing, playing the guitar, and singing.
Jose also loved nature: he enjoyed going on walks, fishing, and had a passion
for gardening with his wife, Amelia. His favorite flower was a rose and he
loved watching birds outside his window. He had quite the green thumb and
was famously known for having the only green lawn in his neighborhood
under the pine trees. He loved going shopping with his grandchildren, and
never complained about how many stores they wanted to go to. Jose, lovingly
called Chavito by his grandchildren, translates to “young man” and
accurately described the youthful relationship he maintained with them.

Jose and Amelia had a beautiful marriage of 36 years. His memory will
carry on, especially when listening to the songs he wrote, drinking the
tequilas he loved, and seeing the flowers he cared for. To know Chavito was
to love him - he would bring a smile to anyone he met. He will be so deeply
missed by his family, but they will rest easy knowing he is now home with
the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jose Mendoza and Maria
Alvarez, sisters Trinidad Mendoza, Fidelia Mendoza, Maria Mendoza,
Consuelo Mendoza, brothers Jesus Mendoza and Luis Mendoza.
He is survived by his wife Amelia Mendoza, sons Jose de Jesus
(Nancy), Mauricio (Erika), Jorge, Alverto (Norma) Louis, and Alfredo.
Daughters Alma (Marco), Maria, and Rosa (Kevin). 18 grandchildren and 14
great grandchildren. Brothers, Gonzalo (Silvia), Juan, Ramon (Irma). Sisters,
Amelia (Salvador), Guadalupe (Leonel).
Nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
Pallbearers: Maurico Mendoza, Jorge Mendoza, Anthony Herrera,
Jeffrey Matthews, Rafael Alvarez, Marco Padilla, Pablo Padilla, and Edwin
Padilla.
