Jon Kevin Varnell, 42, of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away November 5, 2015 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born December 25, 1972 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Roger Dale and Debbrah Irene Varnell.
Jon graduated from Sheridan High School in 1991 and was working on his Bachelor's Degree at Arkansas Tech University. He worked for twenty-one years at Dassault Falcon Jet in Little Rock, Arkansas. His work family was very important to him. Jon had a kind heart and was someone who would do anything for you. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. When Jon wasn't on the Arkansas River fishing, he was watching the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys play football and spending time with his family. During his illness, he never once thought of himself, but put his family and friends first. He wanted to make sure everyone was taking care of. Jon leaves behind family and friends whose lives will never be the same without him. He always left a lasting impression on you. We will remember Jon fondly for the caring person he was and he will never be forgotten.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Olin and Freeda Varnell of White Hall, Arkansas and Lester and Irene Waits of Memphis, Tennessee; and father-in-law, Harvey Peterson of Texarkana, Texas.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Peterson Varnell of Sheridan, Arkansas; two daughters, Elizabeth Hale and husband Andy of Calico Rock, Arkansas, and Megan Tompkins and husband Billy of Sheridan, Arkansas; his parents, Roger and Debbrah Waits Varnell; brother, Eric Varnell; nephew, Peyton Varnell; sister, Teri Owens and her husband Ray; three grandchildren, Myra Hale, Noah Tompkins, and Alba Hale; mother-in-law, Barbara Peterson of Texarkana, TX; three sisters-in-law, Tina Varnell, Rachel Matthews, of Texarkana, TX, and Kelly Childress of Ripley, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Dez Matthews of Texarkana, TX; nieces, Kelsie Youngblood, Zoë Youngblood, Keefer Matthews, Lane Kelley and Chloé Glover; and other relatives and many friends who loved Jon and will miss him always.
