Johnny "J.W." Walters

John “J. W.” Walters, age 69, of Pearcy, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023.

He was born on December 5, 1953, in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of O. L.”Walt” Walters and Dorothy Elder Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George Guell and Bea Millard; two brothers-in-law, Roy York and David Hollingsworth; one sister-in-law, Kathy Pride.

He was the oldest of three children.  John was a “military brat” and grew up in Hawaii.  He enjoyed the ocean and surfing the North Shore.  They soon made their way back home to Hot Springs, where he met the love of his life, Cindy.  Cindy and John married on September 1, 1979, and just celebrated their 44th anniversary.  Together they had two amazing sons, Josh and Joe.  Cindy, Josh, and Joe were his world, he strived to provide and care for his family.  In addition to being a great son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend, he was a proud grandpa of his grandson, Jaxson.  John was known and loved by many; he knew no stranger.  He loved the outdoors, the lake life, bikes, and blues.  You could find him enjoying the open road on his Harley, singing the blues, and playing guitar with family and friends.  He spent his career as a land surveyor throughout the State of Arkansas, also many years working alongside his dad, as a home builder, a co-owner of Perma Stone Company and later retired from Rimfire Technical Services.  To know John, you know what a faithful and loyal man heaven gained.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cindy Walters of Pearcy; two sons, Josh Walters of Pearcy and Joe Walters of Pearcy and his fiancé, Kristin Collins of Hot Springs; his grandson, Jaxson Lee Walters; two sisters and brother-in-law, Beverly York of Glenwood and Barbara and Matt Landry of Pearcy; brother-in-law, Sam Guell of Little Rock; sister-in-law, Charlene Hollingsworth of Ft. Worth; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
