Johnnie Morrow

September 16, 1930 — June 19, 2019

Johnnie Morrow

Johnnie Jewel Morrow of McRae, AR went to be with her Lord Wednesday, June 19, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born September 16, 1930 in Montrose, AR to Bill and Virgie Streeter.  She had 6 brothers and 3 sisters whom she dearly loved. She would often tell stories of “down home” and you could see the joy on her face as she spoke of working in the fields with her daddy, helping her mother cook, and she really lit up when she spoke of getting into mischief with her siblings.

Johnnie married her one true love, Buddy, in September 1951. We loved to hear her tell the story of how they met at the roller rink in Little Rock. It wasn’t love at first sight but he eventually won her over and they were inseparable until his death in 2011. Their love story is one for the ages. We have been truly blessed to witness their love and devotion to not only their Savior but to each other.

She retired from Bancroft in Cabot after working there for 25 years. She loved her job and the people she worked with. She made friends to last a lifetime.

She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Searcy since 1999. Johnnie loved God and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. So many wonderful memories of church on Sunday mornings together followed by lunch and watching wrestling. Johnnie also loved bowling, tending to her roses, working in the garden, and sewing. Her greatest love was her family. She loved having a house full of grandkids, cooking, playing cards, and board games. She was also an avid Razorback fan. She never missed a game either on the radio or TV.

Those gone before her include her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, her love Buddy, and her first great grandson Cannon Cotton. Cannon was very special to her and he was greatly missed every day. Our family rejoices in the fact that she been reunited with God and her loved ones who passed before her.

We who remain have been left with a hole in our hearts but also joyful knowing she is no longer in pain and is now celebrating in the arms of the Lord. Survivors include 2 daughters, Brenda (Bruce) Cotton of Tennessee, Karen (Terry) Hogan of McRae, 4 grandchildren, Barry Cotton of Tennessee, Kasey (Joe Mike) Holland of McRae, James Hogan of McRae, Stephen Cotton of Tennessee, 6 great grandchildren, Shea, Savannah, Maggie, Alex, Karlie, and Lexie, 1 brother Wesley (Francis) Streeter of Bastrop, Louisiana, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.  Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.  Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.  www.smithfamilycares.com
