John Zachariason

John Charles Zachariason, beloved father, grandfather, friend and co-worker, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away Saturday, April 10th 2021, at the age of 71. He was born July 4, 1949 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to parents Robert Zachariason and Grace (Hutcheson) Zachariason.

John was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration. After a successful career in banking, he went on to become the Chief Financial Officer for Good Old Days Foods, where he remained for thirty years. He was still working there at the time of his passing.

In his younger years he enjoyed pitching in a semi-pro baseball league. He was also an excellent switch hitter. His love for baseball stayed with him for life. Especially his love for the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his two loving children, David Zachariason (Kim), Whitney Goss (Neill) and the light of his life, his two grandchildren, Justin and Zachary Goss.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, Monday, April 19, 2021, at Smith Funeral Home in Sherwood (7700 AR-107, Sherwood, Arkansas 72120) with Danny Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10am to 11am preceding the service.
