John Roger Varnell, age 62, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019. Roger was a Graduate of Little Rock Central High, where he played football. He was a member of Bingham Road Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and his church family. He was retired from Colonial Bakery, where he started working at age 16. Later in life, he worked at Camp Aldersgate in Little Rock. Roger loved big and never met a stranger. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, calling the Hogs, and spending time with his family.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, John Kenneth Varnell and Jewel Dean (Judy) Outlaw-Varnell, and his older brother, Kenneth Steven Varnell. He is survived by his high-school sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Karen Jean Skipworth-Varnell; their children, Misty Lee Goad (Wain) and John Adam Varnell (Lillie); their grandchildren, Dylan Goad, Evan Goad, Ryan Goad and Elizabeth Varnell; a sister, Linda Hulan (Bill); several nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Memorial services will be held at Bingham Road Baptist Church on December 8th at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Bingham Road Baptist Church to help further the ministry of Jesus Christ.
