John Reed

John Taylor Reed, Jr., 70, passed away August 29, 2016. He was born May 15, 1946 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late John Reed, Sr. and Gertha Dean (Williams) Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Barbara King, Lucille Pointer, and Carmen Reed; and two brothers, Albert Reed, Sr. and Curtis Edward Reed.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of thirty-three years, Evelyn Reed of Benton, Arkansas; six sons, Brian Reed and wife Robin of Bryant, Arkansas, Keylon Allen of Benton, Arkansas, Ryan Barnes and wife Brandy of Benton, Johnathan Reed of Phoenix, Arizona, John M. Reed and wife Denise of Benton, Arkansas, and Calvin Reed and wife Amanda of Benton, Arkansas; seventeen grandchildren; sister, Gertha M. Dent of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers, Kenneth Reed and wife Willie Lou of Benton, Arkansas and Donald G. Reed of Benton, Arkansas; and a host of family members and friends who loved John and will miss him always.
Reception visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, Arkansas 72015. Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Luther Green and Elder Karl Barnes, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Elect Temple Church of God in Christ. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Barnes, John M. Reed, Calvin T. Reed, Kenneth Reed, Aaron Calvin, Cameron Larkin, Corey Beaugard, Octavius Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are the Mount Zion Deacons and Brotherhood, the 12-Gauge Hunting Lodge, and the Men's Alliance for Progress. Services entrusted to Smith-Benton Funeral Home.
